My rationalization for buying a Kindle turns out to have basis in fact: "A new study analyzing the Amazon Kindle electronic book reader’s impact on the environment suggests that, on average, the carbon emitted over the life of the device is offset after the first year of use."

I still think I'd miss that new-book smell. I love sticking my nose in the pages of a fresh book. But the arguments for are persuasive...
I wonder how many books you have to read in order to make that offset.

Ah. Now if I'd read the original article before commenting instead of after,, I'd've known that the number was 22.5 books.
