A compilation of a lot of papers recent I found interesting having to do with urban ecology. Bird papers have been added to my urban bird bibliography (Word doc); this is non-bird stuff.
- Quantifying the road-effect zone: threshold effects of a motorway on anuran populations in Ontario, Canada. 2009. Eigenbrod, F., S. J. Hecnar, and L. Fahrig. Ecology and Society 14(1): 24. Online, open access.
- Frogs call at a higher pitch in traffic noise. 2009. Parris, K. M., M. Velik-Lord, and J. M. A. North. Ecology and Society 14(1): 25. Online, open access.
- Carabid beetle assemblages along urban to rural gradients: A review. 2009. Niemelä, J. and D. J. Kotze. Landscape and Urban Planning 92:65-71.
- A review of mitigation measures for reducing wildlife mortality on roadways. 2009. Glistaa, D, J., T. L. DeVaultb, and J. A. DeWoody. Landscape and Urban Planning 91:1-7.
- Declines in common, widespread butterflies in a landscape under intense human use. 2009. H. Van Dyck, A. J. Van Strien, D. Maes, and C. A. M. Van Swaay. Conservation Biology 23:957-965.
- Do wooded streets provide connectivity for bats in an urban landscape? 2009. M. Oprea, P. Mendes, T. B. Vieir, and A. D. Ditchfield. Biodiversity and Conservation (online first).

I agree that a paper should not appear online until it is in its final form. Otherwise it could cause trouble for people who quote or cite the online version.
