SILTWA BIBDOT
(Stuff I'd Like To Write About, But I'm Busy Doing Other Things).
- National Geographic reports that House Crows (Corvus splendens), Eurasian species that have become established in other parts of the world, are going to be exterminated in South Africa. This species is quite aggressive there, threatening native birds, and the plans are to poison them. Theoretically, because they drive other birds away from food sources, there will be few non-target victims. Hmm.
- I've written about the endangered Puerto Rican Parrot; now you can buy a cool t-shirt and singer Jimmy Buffett will donate $1 to parrot recovery efforts. Read more at Birdchaser.
- Open source journal PLoS Biology has a depressing but interesting paper, Scientific Illiteracy and the Partisan Takeover of Biology. Link is to free, full-text paper.

I beleive its House Crows (Corvus splendens?) to be culled in RSA

Yes, thanks...obviously, I am too busy to even read the story correctly. I corrected the post. (Bootstrap readers keep me honest!).
